The weeks with critters and shining in Arathi Basin

I was going through my achievements for something easy to do and finished Hail to the Chef! It only took Critter Gitter and Dinner Impossible and my bank alt even had all the required mats. Piece of cake. A real cake, not the Delicious Chocolate Cake, that one’s a lie.

Fear me and my critter army!

Darkmoon Faire was up and I went into Arathi Basin for Dinner Impossible with the reputation buff on and got the last hundreds of rep I needed for exalted with The League of Arathor and Knight of Arathor. That only took my whole WoW life.. To be fair, I haven’t been doing battlegrounds the whole time (I’ve barely done any this year) but these reputations still take a lot of time. But it feels great when you finish them 🙂 I should start doing Alterac Valley to eventually get The Justicar because that will take another few years.

I’ve been doing the legendary pet battles in Tanaan Jungle for pets from Fel-Touched Pet Supplies and the drop rate is very low so this might take a while. I got Zangar Spore and Nightmare Bell and I hope to get the rest soon because these pet battles are not very fun. I even checked the auction house but the pets are too expensive to justify it. At least for now. On the bright side, they drop Pet Charms and Fel-Touched Battle-Training Stone and those are always handy. I started hoarding them in preparation for BAzeroth but then I found out I didn’t have the pets you can buy with them so I’m now getting those. I’m also killing the world bosses in Tanaan Jungle when I’m there and they already gave me two mounts!

I know, Tundra Icehoof. I don’t like it here either.

I’ve done The Celestial Tournament enough times to get all the pets and Celestial Family. With all the great guides for the battles, the hardest part of this whole thing is getting and leveling the required pets. I’ll have to go back there twice more for An Awfully Big Adventure but then I’ll be done with the place for good. It’s almost a shame, I like the place. It can be frustrating and it took forever but it’s great content.

I was also working on An Awfully Big Adventure this week and it was easier than I expected. I still haven’t got used to the fact that my pet collection is quite big now so I’m barely ever missing the required pets. Devs said that there will be new collection achievements for mounts and pets in BAzeroth. The highest current achiev for pets is 600 and I had only 650 so I went and got 50 more in three days and there are still some I can acquire quite easily. With the launch date for BAzeroth announced, I really need to go through my to-do list and figure out what I want to work on now.

Arathi Blizzard was up this week, it’s the PvP Brawl when Arathi Basin is snowy and you can’t see anything and my mage looks very magical with Arcane Power and Prismatic Barrier. I love arcane!

Favourite reference in WoW

Lovely ladies Z and Cinder are doing a blog challenge and anyone can join! Topic of week 34 is “What is your favourite pop culture reference or easter egg in the game?” You can find other people’s posts on their website.

There are many awesome references and easter eggs in WoW but my favourite is SI:7 (SI stands for Stormwind Intelligence). The name is a reference to The British Secret Intelligence Service, also called MI:6 (Military Intelligence, Section 6). And they’re so fun!

I love when they send me on a mission and I get to do spy shenanigans like sneaking around, gathering intelligence and using code names (e.g. “the White Pawn” for Anduin). Preferably with Master Mathias Shaw. That man makes me feel things. *clears throat* Anyway..

Meeting them is like meeting Harrison Jones (hey, also a great reference!), I immediately know I’m going to enjoy whatever comes next. And even though I don’t love the faction conflict, I always get immersed into the story when SI:7 are involved. If Blizz came to me and offered me any position in their company I’d want, I’d choose to be one of the people who write SI:7 stories and quests. That must be so much fun!

If you want to read more about SI:7 and their activities, Wowpedia has a good article about them and this amazing art of Varian and SI:7 infiltrating Ironforge from “The Shattering” novel.
