The months with all the alts

I’m back! My break was longer than I expected but I’m finally here and ready to be a functional blogger again ūüôā

Mage

I was going to finish ALL the things before BAzeroth pre-patch and I finished some and completely abandoned the rest (looking at you, mage tower and Field Medic, you were not worth the trouble).

I finished Brawler’s Guild reputation for the mount and managed to do most of the achievements. The rest was also not worth the trouble.

db47jefwkaabs6f

I finally got the fiery pony from original Karazhan!

dfjdd92w4aaqjsg1

It makes me want to level a warlock because the pony doesn’t fit my mage or any other character I currently have.

Other random things I got her were An Awfully Big Adventure and Friends on the Farm. I was going to go back to the Argent Tournament and start doing the dailies to buy the pets but then I decided to buy them all on the auction house. So worth the gold.

I’ve noticed that now that I play alts, I spend less time doing things on my mage that I don’t enjoy so much. Because of this, I missed out on some Legacy achievements but I think it’s worth it. Grinding is no longer for me. I wonder how long that will last..

Shaman

Enhancement shaman was so much fun! It took some time to learn how to play her properly after the boost to 110 but I was good enough to kill stuff. I boosted her in resto spec and got her enhancement and elemental artifact weapons.

dafdlayxkaawuis

I feel like a proper shaman now that I have Doomhammer. It’s also a very pretty weapon!

She has alchemy and herbalism so I did the quests to get recipes. On my mage, I did the class hall campaign and the professions quests while leveling so it was all sort of smushed together and I find that it’s much more enjoyable to focus on only one quest chain and not start anything else until I’m done with it.

The class hall campaign was very good. I recently started reading the World of Warcraft: Chronicles and elements and elemental lords are one of the first things it talk about so it was great going into it knowing their history.

I had to do Broken Shore campaign for the mount and that content is just dull and some of the quests are bad. I was lucky to find a group for Sentinax but killing three rares and 100 demons is not fun. But it was worth it, the mount is beautiful.

Rogue and Hunter

My outlaw rogue and beast mastery hunter (both adorable gnomes) are mostly doing dungeons and ocassional quests and they’re also working on their professions. Hunter has skinning and leatherworking, rogue has tailoring and enchanting. I can’t wait to get my hands on all the 8.0 profession changes!

Hanniy and Bitey are heading to an unknown land to search for the White Pawn

Death Knight

So many people were praising death knight class hall campaign, I figured I might as well make one of my own and see if I like the playstyle.

The starting zone was amazing and evil!

db2gihzwsaeepc3

She’s now level 108 and I hope to finish her soon. She has heirlooms and invasions give a lot of XP, it’s so easy to level with them.

I still haven’t done the class hall campaign, I’m saving that for 110 but I’m doing profession quests (she has mining and blacksmithing) and I really like those.

After being mage in a pretty dress for so long, I didn’t expect to enjoy playing as a plate wearer with two huge swords but for some reason, I really do. And not only because mobs barely hurt me and I have a self heal in my rotation but it just feels cool (no temperature pun intended). It makes me feel strong.

I’m thinking about making her my main for BAzeroth. It feels so weird to even consider it, I’ve always been a mage. I’ve been playing mage since WoD so it hasn’t been long but I never expected to main another class. It feels like a cheesy romantic story. “I never expected to fall in love with someone else. I’m sorry, baby, it’s not you, it’s me!” ūüėÄ And it actually isn’t mage’s fault, I just enjoy death knight playstyle more. All those years ago, I made a mage because I liked their lore, there also were a lot of great mages in lore, the spells looked awesome and even in different stories and media, I just liked magic and witches.

Now I’m definitely gravitating more to hitting people over their heads with huge weapons. I wonder if it says something about me. I used to be all high class and cultured, now I just want to be evil and slap a bitch.¬†Anyway.. *clears throat* death knights are awesome.

I should be able to post regularly again so see you next time! ūüôā

Too Much Adulting to Blog

Hello everyone!

I haven’t published anything for some time now (I’m not even going to look how long it’s been..) because there is a lot of stuff happening IRL.

I was trying to resolve my living situation because I have to leave the place where I live now soon. Right now, it finally looks like I will have a place to live (I won’t have to crush on anyone’s couch, yay!).

I’m playing WoW a little but this whole thing sucks all my energy so this poor blog needs to wait until I get settled and everything calms down a bit. It shouldn’t take more than another month. I’m mostly leveling my army of alts. By the way, I have army of alts now. It’s a long story..

Anyway, this was rambly so have a puppy and a kitten as an apology:

See you (hopefully) soon!

The weeks with critters and shining in Arathi Basin

I was going through my achievements for something easy to do and finished¬†Hail to the Chef! It only took¬†Critter Gitter and¬†Dinner Impossible¬†and my bank alt even had all the required mats. Piece of cake. A real cake, not the¬†Delicious Chocolate Cake, that one’s a lie.

critter

Fear me and my critter army!

Darkmoon Faire was up and I went into Arathi Basin for Dinner Impossible with the reputation buff on and got the last hundreds of rep I needed for exalted with¬†The League of Arathor and¬†Knight of Arathor. That only took my whole WoW life.. To be fair, I haven’t been doing battlegrounds the whole time (I’ve barely done any this year) but these reputations still take a lot of time. But it feels great when you finish them ūüôā I should start doing¬†Alterac Valley to eventually get¬†The Justicar¬†because that will take another few years.

I’ve been doing the legendary pet battles in Tanaan Jungle for pets from¬†Fel-Touched Pet Supplies¬†and the drop rate is very low so this might take a while. I got Zangar Spore and Nightmare Bell and I hope to get the rest soon because these pet battles are not very fun. I even checked the auction house but the pets are too expensive to justify it. At least for now. On the bright side, they drop Pet Charms and¬†Fel-Touched Battle-Training Stone¬†and those are always handy. I started hoarding them in preparation for BAzeroth but then I found out I didn’t have the pets you can buy with them so I’m now getting those. I’m also killing the world bosses in Tanaan Jungle when I’m there and they already gave me two mounts!

dzoiiyuxcaabtdj

I know, Tundra Icehoof. I don’t like it here either.

I’ve done The Celestial Tournament enough times to get all the pets and¬†Celestial Family. With all the great guides for the battles, the hardest part of this whole thing is getting and leveling the required pets. I’ll have to go back there twice more for¬†An Awfully Big Adventure¬†but then I’ll be done with the place for good. It’s almost a shame, I like the place. It can be frustrating and it took forever but it’s great content.

I was also working on¬†An Awfully Big Adventure¬†this week and it was easier than I expected. I still haven’t got used to the fact that my pet collection is quite big now so I’m barely ever missing the required pets. Devs said that there will be new collection achievements for mounts and pets in BAzeroth. The highest current achiev for pets is 600 and I had only 650 so I went and got 50 more in three days and there are still some I can acquire quite easily. With the launch date for BAzeroth announced, I really need to go through my to-do list and figure out what I want to work on now.

Arathi Blizzard was up this week, it’s the PvP Brawl when Arathi Basin is snowy and you can’t see anything and my mage looks very magical with¬†Arcane Power and Prismatic Barrier. I love arcane!

Favourite reference in WoW

Lovely ladies Z and Cinder are doing a blog challenge and¬†anyone can join! Topic of week 34 is ‚ÄúWhat is your favourite pop culture reference or easter egg in the game?‚ÄĚ You can find other people‚Äôs posts on their¬†website.

There are many awesome references and easter eggs in WoW but my favourite is SI:7 (SI stands for Stormwind Intelligence). The name is a reference to The British Secret Intelligence Service, also called MI:6 (Military Intelligence, Section 6). And they’re so fun!

I love when they send me on a mission and I get to do¬†spy shenanigans like sneaking around, gathering intelligence and using code names (e.g. “the White Pawn” for Anduin). Preferably with Master Mathias Shaw. That man makes me feel things. *clears throat* Anyway..

Meeting them is like meeting Harrison Jones (hey, also a great reference!), I immediately know I’m going to enjoy whatever comes next. And even though I don’t love the faction conflict, I always get immersed into the story when SI:7 are involved. If Blizz came to me and offered me any position in their company I’d want, I’d choose to be one of the people who write SI:7 stories and quests. That must be so much fun!

If you want to read more about SI:7 and their activities, Wowpedia has a good article about them¬†and this amazing art of Varian and SI:7 infiltrating Ironforge from “The Shattering” novel.

For Stormwind and the Alliance!

The weeks with pandas, spirits and a ghost wolf

More pet battles! I’ve been really enjoying them lately ūüôā I spent about a week doing¬†Beasts of Fable Book dailies which drop cute pandas and got them all. I’m also doing the dailies for pandaren spirits and I’m only missing the fire one.

I also did The Longest Day achievement. Some of the tamers you need to defeat are low level so I guess I was supposed to have this done a long time ago. Oops.

dycpuiiw4aeu_wf

This kid wasn’t too happy when I brought full 25 level pet team to defeat her 5 level pets. Sorry, kid, I need my achievement.

I was leveling Shanniy and I was surprised how much I was enjoying enhancement. My previous experience with melee classes was only retribution paladin and this feels so much different! My main problem with pally is that I’m constanly behind, trying to keep up with the tank but that’s not an issue on my shaman thanks to ghost wolf (woof!). The animations are also prettier imho. AoE is a bit of a struggle but I’m learning. And I didn’t need to have optimal DPS on level 53. I didn’t have the courage to compare my DPS in a dungeon but no one shouted at me so I was either doing well or the heirlooms were keeping my suboptimal rotation tolerable.¬†I did the whole of Redridge Mountains because I remembered that the storyline was cool.

dyeacfmwaaej7zy

I didn’t remember how stupid was the end though. Oh well, I had fun most of the time. I did a lot of dungeons too and they don’t go as quickly as they used to but it’s still a good way to level (with Netflix or Youtube to keep you entertained). She hit level 60 last night so I boosted her to 110 and now people in her class hall want her to do some stuff and I don’t know how to play her and I haven’t got her all the artifact weapons so I have a lot of content to do.

I got another prestige level and¬†Going On Seventeen. I can’t wait to get 18 and be done with PvP for now. The grind has been worth it but damn, I need to do something else for a change. I have a new prestigious pony, the forest one. Also very pretty.

forestpony.jpg

And the devs say that the prestige rewards are not going away in BAzeroth so I will probably get all the ponies eventually!

Building my own achievement

Lovely ladies Z and Cinder are doing a blog challenge and¬†anyone can join! Topic of week 33 is ‚ÄúBuild your own achievement‚ÄĚ. You can find other people‚Äôs posts on their¬†website.

I have a love-hate relationship with achievements. I love getting them but some of them were just awful (looking at you, Children’s Week!).¬†I’ve had ideas for really wacky and challenging achievements but I want to keep it easy and fun.

With the end of Legion, the factions are in conflict again and I’m not too excited about that. I trust Blizz that BAzeroth will be an awesome expansion and I will enjoy it but I would choose a different approach to factions going from Legion. I loved working with Horde mages in my class halls and with my achievement, I want to show my appreciation for Horde races.

n_vt67x5d2

You get “Peace on Azeroth” by emoting¬†/bow,¬†/bravo,¬†/cheer,¬†/comfort,¬†/curtsey,¬†/glad,¬†/highfive,¬†/kneel,¬†/praise,¬†/salute,¬†/thank,¬†/wave or¬†/yay to every race of opposite faction. I’ve excluded emotes like /hug, /pat, /kiss and /blow because the idea of a random Hordie coming to me and hugging me or kissing me is slightly disturbing. Let’s respect everyone’s personal space but let’s show some love to everyone. We will need it in the trying times that are coming in BAzeroth.

The weeks with defeating all the Argus pets

Family Fighter! F*cking finally! This took ages and a lot of that time was spent screaming at my screen in frustration. You need to defeat all the “corrupted pets of Argus” with teams made out of pets of the same family. All the corrupted pets and all the families. That’s 18 pets and 10 families so 18*10 which equals a f*ck ton of pet battles.¬† There are strategies on the internet so I didn’t have to do the hardest part (shout-out to Wowhead and Xu-Fu’s Pet Battle Strategies!) but I didn’t have all the required pets so I had to buy/trap them and level them and it was a lot of work.¬†And I’m so damn proud of myself for completing it. I love when I finish a big project.

I felt so good about my pet battling skills that I went back to Pandaria to finish some old quests and achievements I had tried last year and quickly abandoned. Pandaren Spirit Tamer is incredibly easy now that I have the required pets and I added Beasts of Fable Book I-III dailies to my rotation to get all the pandas.

Mountacular! I was stuck at 249 mounts for so long! But now I have my own Felfire Hawk:

dw-8lqfwsaapttu

I got the previous achievement for 200 mounts on 23rd September 2017 so it took less time that I expected but getting another 50 mounts for Lady of the Reins is going to be a challenge. I need to expand my circle of disappointment and get back to the mounts I abandoned for various reasons (the maze for Lucid Nightmare, Ashran rep, ..). And I haven’t even started farming mounts on Argus! So much to do! So many pretty ponies and other creatures to get!

The 250th mount was¬†Lightforged Felcrusher which you get for unlocking Lightforged Draenei. I thought you needed to roll the character to get the mounts but you get them as quest rewards for the final scenario in the questchains. I started with the Void Elves but the void chicken didn’t count for some reason, then I did the Lightforged Draenei and the felcrusher did count. It was weird.

I really liked the quests to unlock the Alliance allied races. Alleria and Turalyon are very interesting characters and I had quite an adventure with both of them. I’m not going to write about it now to avoid spoiling it for others but I’m going to say I enjoyed it very much.

I hit another prestige level and You Are Sixteen. The end of this grind is near(ish).

I finished making¬†Sky Golem. I never realised how weird it looks when it’s flying. Is this how Iron Man feels?

dx_eekwx4aerc_w

I helped tiny Nomi make so many meals that he grew up and I got the¬†Now I Am the Master¬†achievement, which is really ironic now because we know how much he sucks at cooking. But his adult version gave me the last Legion recipe so we’re square now.

I bought Lost Mail on the auction house and did the Postmaster’s questline. It was so fun! I always enjoy when questgivers want me to do mundane tasks like deliver mail to an adventurer or carry a bag full of rocks around Dalaran. They’re much more interesting to me than saving Azeroth from world-ending threats. Sorting the mail was a struggle. I’ve spent almost no time on Kalimdor and I’m not very knowledgeable about the rest of the world(s) either. I managed to do¬†Post Haste but the challenging version is indeed¬†challenging. I couldn’t do it. My best result was 22. I’ll go back there eventually. And here’s my new little buddy!

dx6zn-kx0aauwve

I then sold the Lost Mail on the auction house for the same amount of gold I originally bought it so yay for free fun!
