Getting to Know Me!

Lovely ladies Z and Cinder are doing a blog challenge and anyone can join! Topic of week 40 is “Getting to know you”, You can find other people’s posts on their websiteDuring my break, I missed a few blog challenges (including making 2019 bucket list and it’s now August, oops) but I can still do this one! It’s almost a year old but I’ve had it half-finished for months so I might as well finish it, right?

comfy_questions

1. How do you drink your tea?

Either green tea or English Breakfast with milk and sugar. I recently bought hazelnut milk and found out that it’s a great combo with black tea so I imagine that will be happening a lot.

2. Favourite dessert?

I didn’t find English translation but “makovec” in my language. It’s made from flour, milk and poppy seeds. It’s delicious and so easy that I can do it myself!

3. Favourite season and why?

Autumn. It’s too cold in winter and too hot in summer and we haven’t had a spring for years so autumn it is. It’s a very cosy season and the nature is at its most beautiful.

4. What cheers you up?

Cute animal videos/gifs (like this lovely account The Golden Ratio that has daily snaps from a household with six golden retrievers) and music. I recently got back into metal music after many, many years so now I’m rediscovering bands I listened to before (like Amaranthe – have an awesome song) and also discovering new ones (like Dynazty – have another awesome song and yes, that’s the same singer in both of those bands, Nils Molin, I might have a crush on him). I even stepped way out of my comfort zone and went to Dynazty’s concert which was absolutely amazing and well worth the massive amount of anxiety the whole thing gave me. Even thinking about it cheers me up because I proved to myself that I can do these things even if they scare me.

I now have an electronic keyboard at home and I started playing again and also singing and that makes me happy. After years of not training, I’m a bit rusty but it’s going well so far. I also randomly decided to learn knitting. I have some supplies my maternal unit gave me years ago in an effort to get me into it (“You’re a woman! You should know at least something useful!”) which unsurprisingly didn’t lead to anything other than a serious case of eye rolls but with the amount of DnD streams I’m watching these days, I need something to do with my hands so I gave knitting a try. I’m still terrible at it but I’m seeing progress and I’m enjoying it!

Also DnD streams. For example High Rollers Lightfall: The Descent where adventurers go to hell and battle demons and zombie dragons and try to get their friend’s soul back. It might not sound very cheerful but it’s actually a great story and a lot of fun!

5. Dogs or cats?

Both. Dogs are easier to snuggle though so they’re slightly better.

6. What’s your dream holiday?

Backpacking Europe. The whole continent.

7. How many kids do you want?

I want a bunny or a cat. I haven’t decided yet if I’ll get a pet because my apartment is tiny and I need to consider if they would be happy there.

8. Favourite weather?

Cloudy, about 21°C (69.8°F) with occasional rain.

9. What would your last meal be?

Vegeburgers, onion rings and apple juice.

11. If you were ghost, who or where would you haunt?

I would go back to my university and give stressed students ghostly hugs because studying is hard.

12. What is your family ancestry?

As white as you can be. Mostly Slavic with a bit of German (from the part of 20th century when you didn’t really want your family members to be German because there was a change they would turn out to be Nazis.. We don’t talk about my great-grandfather a lot..).

13. What scares you?

I have anxiety so everything. Making phone calls is scary. And I can’t watch horror movies because then I can’t sleep and I’m scared of zombies who definitely exist and want to eat me in my sleep.

14. What are you most grateful for?

The fact that my parental units had enough money to pay for my education and help me get a mortgage for my apartment.

15. Dream job?

Anything that pays well and doesn’t require me to work with other people. Maybe writing if I was good at it (and actually put any effort in it).

16. Do you believe in aliens?

Yes! They’re out there!

17. Favourite (e-)sport?

I like watching figure skating and Mythic Dungeon International.

18. How do you relax after a long day?

Video games, music, snuggling my teddy bear. Also food.

19. If you could meet one historical figure, who would you choose and why?

Toyen. They were a surrealist artist, possibly bi/pansexual and transgender/non-conforming and I want to go back in time and give them a hug (with their permisson, of course) and tell them their art is amazing and they’re valid.

20. If you had to be a teacher, what subject would you teach?

Either English language or European history. I was considering becoming a teacher and almost went to study it, I would teach Czech and English language and literature but fortunately, I changed my mind. I don’t think I would be a good teacher. I’m much happier being a librarian.

21. Describe your perfect day.

Breakfast in bed (either waffles or scrambled eggs), nice long bath, then WoW, reading a book, playing/watching Dungeons&Dragons, eating good food and then going to bed early and falling asleep to the sound of rain.

22. Describe yourself in one sentence.

I’m a person who has issues with fitting things into one sentence.

24. What superpower would you choose?

Teleportation. The world is too big and traveling is too expensive and bad for the environment.

25. Favourite animal.

Dogs, cats, dragons, bunnies, hamsters, unicorns.

26. Biggest accomplishment?

Getting my bachelor’s degree. That was f*cking hard and took way too long.

27. Show us your face!

A few people decided to share their pictures and the only usable picture of me I found was this. I guess I was feeling cute on a train a few years ago? Not sure what was happening there but here you go! It me! Hi!

My top 3 moments in Legion

Lovely ladies Z and Cinder are doing a blog challenge and anyone can join! Topic of week 36 is “Farewell to Legion”, this is part 1 – “What were your top 3 moments in Legion?”. You can find other people’s posts on their website.

I’m cheating a little and only one of these is actually a single moment but I didn’t want to limit the other two things to one specific moment because there’s been too many.

Becoming “The Unstoppable Force”

I did a lot of PvP in Legion. A LOT of PvP. I originally got into it for the prestige mounts but then I found out about “The Unstoppable Force” title and I fell in love. I had to have it.

I was mostly doing the PvP world quests and only occasionally battlegrounds (mostly the brawls) so I had to take several breaks because doing the same world quests every day can get boring very quickly. When I was trying hard, I could get one prestige level every two weeks but they were not fun two weeks.

But it was worth it. So worth it. It took me about 15 months (will all those breaks) but I got to prestige 18 and earned my title.

dar1rj3xuaedrus

The prestige system was so well done. I loved it. And it felt great to work for something so long and then finally getting it. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to do it but I did. My stubbornness won over my laziness and that doesn’t happen often..

All the moments in death knight class campaign

And of course THAT moment when we did THAT thing. If you’ve done it, you probably know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t done it, I recommend you do, even if you know what happens there, because hearing about it or seeing a video doesn’t make it justice.

As much as I loved my mage class campaign (and paladin and shaman too of course), the one for death knight left me speechless. I had all the feels, including all the evil feels. Especially all the evil feels.

There have been evil things in WoW that I didn’t want to do but had no other choice (looking at you, Desolace, and more recently, Sylvanas) but this felt right. It’s what death knights do.

Every time Aluneth whispered to me

Arcane mage artifact weapon was Aluneth, Greatstaff of the Magna and he ocassionally whispered creepy things. Still does, actually.

silithus

My favourite skin is the PvP one. Very appropriate for smashing Horde’s faces.

English is not my first language and it’s harder for me to understand what someone is saying unless I hear them very clearly so I play with voice volume way up. If someone starts talking when I don’t expect it, it gives me a heart attack. Aluneth has great voice acting by Matt Mercer and if you know Matt’s other roles or ever saw him DMing an evil character, you know how creepy that man can be..

The full list of his whispers is here and my favourite is the one he sometimes says during casting Conjure Refreshment“The very powers of the ancient titans are at your command, and you choose to create… tasty treats?”

Yes, Aluneth, I’m an Archmage and I’m using my magic to make pastries. I love pastries.

He also says a lot for Spellsteal and Greater Invisibility which I use mainly in PvP so it was nice when he was cheering me during battlegrounds. Even though it was creepy.

“A very tactical move, my child. You are learning.”

What am I most looking forward to about Battle for Azeroth?

Lovely ladies Z and Cinder are doing a blog challenge and anyone can join! Topic of week 36 is “Farewell to Legion”, this is part 2 – “What are you most looking forward to about Battle for Azeroth?”. Part 1 is coming eventually. You can find other people’s posts on their website.

New zones and quests

It’s always great to explore new places, meet new people, make new friends, catch new pets and see new stories. Not just the big over-arching story of the expansion but the little ones. The farmer whose crops are getting destroyed by their neighbour’s boar, the chef needing some animal parts to feed their friends, the kid who got lost and needs help finding their parents. Those are my favourite and they’re sometimes even more interesting than the big ones, at least for me. There are definitely some memorable big story moments but a few years from now, I will remember Illidan punching a hole through space to get us to Argus with the same love as escorting a snappy grandma in Highmountain.

Character progression

Not just my mage’s progression but my favourite lore characters’ progression as well. Mainly Jaina and Anduin but also the usual suspects like my crush and future husband Khadgar. I always love me some Khadgar stuff. He doesn’t need to be important, he just needs to be there so I can look at him.

We are getting Jaina again and in her home this time. I can’t wait to see what is going on with her. Fingers crossed Blizz writes her well!

Now that Anduin is a king, I want to see how he is going to rule. I used to be worried that Blizz was going to turn him into a stereotypically masculine man with a huge sword but the BfA cinematic gave me a bit of hope. As long as he throws the sword away on his own, I don’t need to interfere. But the moment he forgets he’s a priest and tries to be paladin or some sh*t, I swear I’m climbing on my desk, through my laptop to Azeroth, taking his sword away from him, finding him a proper healing staff and hitting him on his head with it until he realises we need peace.

Hips

Kul’Tiran women have hips and curves and they look like me!

kultiranfemale002

I could write at length why body diversity in games or any other media is important but a lot of people have done that already so look it up if you need to.

These models are amazing. I hope we get the option for our human characters too but if we don’t, I’m race changing so fast all the fat on my body will jiggle.

Favourite reference in WoW

Lovely ladies Z and Cinder are doing a blog challenge and anyone can join! Topic of week 34 is “What is your favourite pop culture reference or easter egg in the game?” You can find other people’s posts on their website.

There are many awesome references and easter eggs in WoW but my favourite is SI:7 (SI stands for Stormwind Intelligence). The name is a reference to The British Secret Intelligence Service, also called MI:6 (Military Intelligence, Section 6). And they’re so fun!

I love when they send me on a mission and I get to do spy shenanigans like sneaking around, gathering intelligence and using code names (e.g. “the White Pawn” for Anduin). Preferably with Master Mathias Shaw. That man makes me feel things. *clears throat* Anyway..

Meeting them is like meeting Harrison Jones (hey, also a great reference!), I immediately know I’m going to enjoy whatever comes next. And even though I don’t love the faction conflict, I always get immersed into the story when SI:7 are involved. If Blizz came to me and offered me any position in their company I’d want, I’d choose to be one of the people who write SI:7 stories and quests. That must be so much fun!

If you want to read more about SI:7 and their activities, Wowpedia has a good article about them and this amazing art of Varian and SI:7 infiltrating Ironforge from “The Shattering” novel.

Building my own achievement

Lovely ladies Z and Cinder are doing a blog challenge and anyone can join! Topic of week 33 is “Build your own achievement”. You can find other people’s posts on their website.

I have a love-hate relationship with achievements. I love getting them but some of them were just awful (looking at you, Children’s Week!). I’ve had ideas for really wacky and challenging achievements but I want to keep it easy and fun.

With the end of Legion, the factions are in conflict again and I’m not too excited about that. I trust Blizz that BAzeroth will be an awesome expansion and I will enjoy it but I would choose a different approach to factions going from Legion. I loved working with Horde mages in my class halls and with my achievement, I want to show my appreciation for Horde races.

You get “Peace on Azeroth” by emoting /bow, /bravo, /cheer, /comfort, /curtsey, /glad, /highfive, /kneel, /praise, /salute, /thank, /wave or /yay to every race of opposite faction. I’ve excluded emotes like /hug, /pat, /kiss and /blow because the idea of a random Hordie coming to me and hugging me or kissing me is slightly disturbing. Let’s respect everyone’s personal space but let’s show some love to everyone. We will need it in the trying times that are coming in BAzeroth.

Allied races

Lovely ladies Z and Cinder are doing a blog challenge and anyone can join! Topic of week 32 is “Allied races”. You can find other people’s posts on their website.

I haven’t pre-purchased BfA yet but I have some thoughts!

I’m a WoD baby and until recently, I didn’t play alts much. I still have things to do on my mage and not a lot of time to play WoW. I have draenei paladin (originally from WoD boost to 90), undead mage (originally from Legion boost to 100) (see the pattern here?) and a couple of (mostly abandoned) low level alts but I don’t play them much. So I feel like I don’t need new races. I’m still happy we’re getting them because there are quests to unlock them (I love quests!) and I know others have been playing much longer than me and might already have all the other races (or at least the ones they like). And having more choices is always nice! Let’s look at what we’re getting:

Void Elves, Highmountain Tauren – I’m not that much into elves and taurens.

Nightborne – Again, elves are meh. They have cool tattoos but you won’t be able to see them unless the character is wearing armorkini and I don’t want to do that. I like the idea of Nightborne mage but I already have two other mages. Maybe I could play a warlock, they’re basically evil mages, right?

Lightforged Draenei – From what I’ve seen, they look awesome. And I’ve been getting more into lore and the whole Light-Void-Alleria-naaru-universe thingy is very interesting. I can imagine rolling one for lore/RP reasons one day, probably a priest.

Dark Iron Dwarves – I like how dwarves went from “I have a funny accent and I’m drunk!” look to “Shut yer mouth or I cut ye..” look. I might play one if I ever want to feel dangerous and metal (I know undead are supposed to be the metal race in WoW but these look more metal to me). I think warrior would fit them but their playable classes haven’t been announced yet so we’ll see.

Zandalari Trolls – I’ve been leveling a troll druid and I love her so I think I’ll get a Zandalari troll eventually. I’m really looking forward to BfA and experiencing their story.

And what other races would I like to play?

Tuskarr – The lovely walrus people from Northrend. I imagine they are like pandaren – peaceful, cute and bouncy but when you mess with them, they will hit you! We’ll probably get another Lich King expansion eventually so they could join us because they’d be tired of all the Lich King mess that keeps happening near their home.

tuskar

Mechagnome – Also ideal for a Lich King expansion. And they’d be perfect: they share models with gnomes, they already have a faction leader (Mimiron) and they are closely tied to the Titans which could lead to some very interesting stories. And they’re robots. I love robots.

mechagnome

Harpies – I know, I know! They are loud, obnoxious and evil. But we live in a patriarchy and sometimes, I want to play as a nasty woman who shouts at men and claws their eyes out, okay? Is that fair and helpful? No! Do I want to kill all men? No! I don’t want to kill anyone, actually. But damn, do I love harpies! They’re in multiple parts of Azeroth so it wouldn’t be hard to find some way to tie them into the story. I doubt we’ll ever get them but hey, I can dream and blog about my silly ideas, right? 🙂

My Favourite Mount(s)

Lovely ladies Z and Cinder are doing a blog challenge and anyone can join! Topic of week 31 is “What’s your favourite mount?”. You can find other people’s posts on their website.

I love mounts. I’ve done annoying rep grinds, weird achievements, many circles of disappointment, a year of Argent Tournament dailies and I learnt to PvP just to get mounts. Worth it!

I hope no one actually expects me to choose just one because that’s not possible. I can do top 4 (in no particular order): Ultramarine Qiraji Battle tank, Archmage’s Prismatic Disc, Leywoven Flying Carpet and Prestigious Ivory Courser. No, wait, I forgot about Invincible! Top 5 then. And an honorable mention.

Ultramarine Qiraji Battle Tank

dhddcbuuaaeylgs

This was the hardest mount to get. It’s from Tol’vir archeology and I spent a lot of time and money to get it. But look at it! It’s awesome!

Archmage’s Prismatic Disc

WoWScrnShot_021018_095033

I enjoyed the class specific content in Legion very much and this pretty mount was the cherry on the expansion cake. I even managed to put together a transmog I actually like a lot with doesn’t happen very often because I’m not very good at transmoging. And the colours fit into Dalaran so well!

Leywoven Flying Carpet

WoWScrnShot_021018_095910.jpg

I love all the flying carpets so when I first saw this one, I knew I had to get it. It’s a great souvenir to always remind me of the gorgeous place that is Suramar City. And if I ever make a Nightborne, this will be her main flying mount.

Prestigious Ivory Courser

WoWScrnShot_021018_101154.jpg

I killed so much Horde for the prestige rewards! This mount is my favourite out of the Prestigious ones. So elegant and fierce!

Invincible

WoWScrnShot_021018_101849.jpg

Does this really need an explanation? 🙂

Honorable mention

WoWScrnShot_021018_102811.jpg

My tauren druid’s travel form. I’m enjoying playing druid much more than I expected and big part of it that I’m so pretty in all my forms. I can’t wait to be a bat!
